Kern Wheelmen

The Kern Wheelmen Bicycle Club is a group of some 150+ cyclists that live in and around Kern County California who enjoy bicycling as recreation and sport.

Kern River Rafting

The Kern River in Sequoia National Forest has the best river rafting in California and is only a few hours from Los Angeles. Kern River rafting features miles and miles of varying whitewater rapids from mild Class II runs to thrilling Class V rapids. California Living Museum (CALM)

Founded in 1980 and opened to the public in 1983, CALM displays and interprets native California animals, plants, fossils, and artifacts to teach a respect for all living things through education, recreation, conservation, and research.

The Sierra Club

Since 1892, the Sierra Club has been working to protect communities, wild places, and the planet itself. Our outings leaders are Sierra Club volunteers, and the range of outings is as diverse as their interests.

The Kern River Alliance (KRA)

The Kern River Alliance was incorporated in August 1995 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We have no paid staff members. KRA is all volunteers dedicated to the preservation of the Kern River in California and its whitewater sports.

The Kern River Valley Hiking Club explores the Southern Sierra Divide Mountains as well as the trails around Kernville, Lake Isabella, and Bakersfield, California. They host local FREE hikes twice a month! A great way to get outside - I know will try to attend a few of these!
